DANE HARDEN


Master Dane S. Harden began training in the martial arts in 1969.  He has lived an adventurous life as a soldier and warrior. These life experiences have directly impacted his martial art studies in unique ways.  He currently holds an 8th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do - training directly under the Father of Tae Kwon Do in the United States, Grand Master Jhoon Goo Rhee.  Harden Sensei holds a 6th Degree Black Belt in Kick-Boxing. He trained under Grand Master Joe Lewis, 4th Degree Black Belt in Yoshinkan-Aikido, training under Hanshi Kevin Blok.  Harden Sensei also holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in the Samurai Sword and trained directly under Shihan Dana Abbott.  Additionally, Harden Sensei was a developer and contributor to the current U.S. Army Combative Program.

Harden Sensei has been featured in numerous martial arts publications including Black Belt Magazine, Aikido Journal, Karate Illustrated Magazine, USA Dojo, and numerous other martial arts Journals and Publications.  He is a member of several martial arts Halls of Fame. Harden Sensei is a Senior Mentor for the Joe Lewis and Super Foot Wallace Fighting System. Harden Sensei is currently in his 50th year of active martial arts training.  He is the President of Western Masters Martial Arts, Inc. which has been in existence since 1979.  Western Masters Martial Arts has affiliated dojo/dojang in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.  

Also, Harden Sensei served in the U.S. ARMY for thirty-five years.  He was a Senior Flight Surgeon and is a retired US Army Colonel. He served nine tours of duty in direct combat operations.  His primary role involved trauma medical evacuation. During his tenure, he completed over one hundred medical evacuations in combat and various disaster zones.  Throughout his military career he carried the influences of the Dojang/Dojo with him. Since retiring from the U.S. military, he has continued to serve American veterans, working as a Primary Care Provider for the Department of Veterans Affairs.    

Harden Sensei is married to Dr. Sherry L. Harden, who is also a Western Masters Black Belt and martial arts enthusiast.  They have one son - Joshua C. Harden, who is also a Western Masters Black Belt.

David Henry - Tae Kwon Do/Archery/Hapkido


Master David Henry has trained in martial arts for 25 years and holds a fifth degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a second degree Black Belt in Korean Archery and Hapkido as well as Korean Sword.  David holds a Bachelors degree in Divinity Studies and is a Forms Competition Champion.

Micheal Simpson - Aikido


Sensei Michael Simpson has a Black Belt in Yoshinkan Aikido and has been training for 10 years. Basic Instructor in Aikido and is happily married with 3 Children.

Mark Wynegar - Aikido


Sensei Mark Wynegar has studied various Martial Arts for 30 years and holds a Black belt in Karate Do and a 2nd Dan in Yoshinkan Aikido. Mark is an Instructor for the Aikido Class, and Tae Kwon Do. Mark lives in Bristol Virginia and is happily married with 2 children.

Ava Workman - Tae Kwon Do


Ms. Ava Workman has trained in Tae Kwon Do for 7 years. She currently holds a Shodan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and works as an Assistant Instructor for the Family Class. Ava is a graduate of Abingdon High School Class of 2019.
